I'm not sure what the point here is, but that is a great CD for testing dynamics and lows.

It's a reference to the dynamics , brillance , clarity and clean sound that most speakers today
    even JBL don't have.

I"ve been on this board for a long time and have heard coments of the like " my A-8 sound like a large transistor radio". Or "the mids are to loud". Again sound is all about hearing and Altecs are still the best.

But since we're listening to a recording, via camera, on computer speakers, it's pretty much pointless.

Yeah, that's kinda like trying to get a sense of the Grand Canyon via a stickcam through a dirty car window at 50 mph...

For those of us who have worked with VOTT's in the past :we can tell . For example The mid high are "ear
bleading" and not" ice pick to the for head " like Titanium Diaphragm.

Both true if not driven with a period correct front end or at least a mimic of one using SS and passive EQ, both of course with the XO properly adjusted for flattest tonal balance in-room.

Loud is Beautiful if it's Clean! As always though, the usual disclaimers apply to this post's contents.

Here is a 604 with a torn paper cone and still working. Filmed with flip video camcorder.
Listen to the brilliance of this speaker. Just spectacular.
